In 1992 a group of people on the internet discovered
a common love of a very UNCOMMON singer/songwriter. They started
writing to eachother about their appreciation of the works of Al
Stewart, as well just about anything else that struck them. Topics
ranged from Al to other musical artists to political debates to
delving into arcane discussions of WWII battle tactics. At first
this group of people just "carbon copied" everything to
the others on the list. As the list expanded they moved to a "mailing
list" format. Thus, the ASML was born .... an international
group of fans and friends that assemble online to talk about Al
and other things. The "conversations" go very far afield
much of the time, but many people do seem to enjoy themselves. If
