Al Stewart: Kim's Corner

From loyal fan Gail P. we get this bit of news:
From Supervolcano: Things Fall Apart (2013) by Harry Turtledove, pages 200-201:
"Al Stewart sang a song called 'Coldest Winter' about, among other things, the winter of 1709. Along with the guys in Squirt Frog and the Evolving Tadpoles [rock band in the book], Al Stewart was one of the few pop musicians with a sense of history, or even a sense that there was such a thing as history. No surprise that a classicist and ancient historian like Bryce had a lot of him on his iPod."

100 year old negatives from Scott's doomed attempt to reach the South Pole recently recovered. They were discovered unprocessed, and were carefully developed and printed. http://www.imaging-resource.com/news/2013/12/27/on-ice-100-year-old-negative-discovered-in-antarctic-ice -- Kim

Alerted to this by Alan Spangler
In the new HBO series "Hello Ladies", Season 1, Episode 4, Year of the Cat is played at the end. It is very prominent,  and there is no dialogue over it.

Peter White is on tour in the UK right now on his own.  Make one or more of his shows if you can.  You will be very pleased that you did.  He makes the acoustic guitar shine. http://peterwhite.com -- Kim
