Al Stewart: Kim's Corner

It always amazes me when young folks like Gabby Young find inspiration in Al's work. Some of them were not even born when Al was topping the charts. This link just appeared in my email. The kid is from Mexico, so English is not his first language. He still does a respectable job with singing and playing multiple instruments to create a cover of "Year of the Cat".

I'm sure many of you are watching the news coming out of Japan closely. I have heard from several of Al's fans there so far. I'm still waiting and hoping to hear from a few more. Please keep the people affected by this tragic event in your thoughts. Several groups (Red Cross, Salvation Army, etc.) are doing what they can, but they will need our help with any time, effort or money we can spare. Yes, Japan is a well prepared first world nation. This, however, is the worst natural disaster they have had in 1000 years. They can not do it alone.

Right now it does not look like Al is making plans for a UK tour any time soon.
Peter White, however, will be on that side of the pond in April and November of 2011.
Laurence Juber will also be in the UK in April, 2011

I've just been given a heads up that Laurence Juber is featured in the February issue of Guitar Player magazine.
If you got to the Guitar Player web site there is a cool video interview with him posted there.

Warm weather WILL be here, eventually. With warm weather come Al concerts. One that should be just AMAZING is the May 7 show with Peter White and a full band in California. I won't be able to get time off work to go, but anyone who can possibly go should. It's just a little bit pricey, but it IS a fund raiser. I'm sure it will be a show you won't wan to miss. If I hear of anyone arranging group rates for Al fans at one of the local hotels or anything else I will be sure to let people know.
